In my opinion, to anyone who want to make a website for any reason. It can be your personal blog, e-commerce store, or your company’s homepage, there are so many features available that you will surely find to ones you need.

Also, as a teacher, I am sure that this is to platform I would use if I wanted to teach my students how to build up a website.

It is perfect for complete beginners but then it might take a little longer to make all to settings by yourself.

Positive experience while working with WordPress

  1. It is not a coincidence that WordPress is to number 1 platform in website creation – owning more than 30% of ALL sites. They are to most user-friendly site without losing professionalism.
  2. There are uncountable amounts of different plugins so that you can add any feature to your site.
  3. You can choose from thousands of designs.
  4. It is inexpensive per month.
  5. If you want you can make a whole new design for your site.

Negative experience while working with WordPress

  1. As a newbie it is very easy to get lost in to uncountable amounts of different themes for your site – this can also be a negative effect because of spending weeks trying to find to perfect one.
  2. The theme with your content and basic settings usually do not look like to ones they are advertised with on their cover photo. This means, that you have to go through to settings and try to achieve to same – and again, as a newbie it is quite a challenge sometimes.
  3. Plugins: to same situation as to themes – way too many if you do not know what and how to use. The best way is to install only those that are recommended during to training at Wealthy Affiliate, then you get basic knowledge on what you should pay attention later.
  4. Fee can only be paid for one whole year in advance. If you do not like their site or just simply change your mind, your whole year is paid and you will obviously not get any refund.
  5. There is some training available in WordPress, but they are not built on each other, so it is rather difficult to find out in what order it would be to most effective.

In conclusion

If you want to make a website, WordPress is to most user friendly and best platform you can find.

Even newbies can learn it easily without any previous technical knowledge – I did not have much experience before either. However, if you want to add a special plugin it can take quite a while to find to most suitable one without proper help.

In my opinion, you can spare hundreds of hours of research by attending a course and having access to a support team. For me, Wealthy Affiliate was a perfect choice for all of these requirements.

Plugins can be found for ever feature you might want to add to your site, but many are only available in to Business membership – which is almost to same price as Wealthy Affiliate yearly membership without many more features that are essential for a good website.

I created a comparison table below, you can check it out:

All in one, if you simply want a site without any additional support and application, you can register for your WordPress account here.

I did try my hand at setting up a wordpress blog about a year back…but I didn’t find it that newbie friendly, if you know what I mean. I was used to drag and drop type website builders and WordPress seemed to have less of this function – more clunky in design.

The tutorials that you mention, by the Wealthy Affiliate – do they have video lessons to show you how to use WordPress properly?

    1. admin says:

I know very well what you mean 🙂 I had the same problem when I started using WordPress but – to answer your question as well – it worth learning it as it has much better ranking in Google, and at Wealthy Affiliate you can learn from very many WordPress videos, tutorials, webinars and even courses. And if anything is not clear, there are many experts that you can always ask.

  2. Daniel says:

Very instructive topic. Although there is many other hosting providers available online WordPress is for sure one of the best, at least for me. I am complete newbie in wordpress but it is very easy to manage through it. I especially like it because I heard that google like wordpress the most.

    1. admin says:

I really think that they provide very exceptional hosting service, and I would never make any other site anywhere else. I want to work on my site instead of figuring out hosting it maintaining problems. 🙂

Google does like WordPress the most, if you check any result it can be seen as well.

The year is 2018 and almost 2019.  I believe pretty much everyone could benefit from a website.  Everyone has something they are passionate about and what a better way then a website to tell the world about it.  Of course almost everyone would like to make more money and you give some great examples as to how this can be done.  Also, Wealthy Affiliate seems like an opportunity that is at the for front.  This was a great read that everyone should have a look at.

  4. Emmanuel Buysse says:

WordPress is the best when it comes to making sites and blogs, I’m using it for quite a while now, and with all the plugins you have combine with this, makes it even better.

I can not name a similar one that could be better than WordPress.

Also, it is quite easy to learn it.

Great post and very informative, thanks for sharing this!

It is good to hear that you are on the same opinion om this. Before I tried others and they are literally nowhere compared to WordPress in my opinion.

  5. Petra says:

I know exactly what you mean when you say that WordPress is not newbie friendly. I’ve tried to build a website many years ago using WordPress, but without proper guidelines it was really quite hard and took a long time to get a halfway decent looking page together. I’ve even used books to help, you know the “Dummy” books, but as I said, it takes a long time and quite some effort. So with an easier way to learn this, it’ll be much quicker and probably not as frustrating.

    1. admin says:

I absolutely know what you mean. Even a few years back – to be more precise before I found Wealthy Affiliate – I did not know at all how to make a webpage and how to have good ranking and all. Learning from WA tutorial changed it incredibly and I even feel that it is so easy 🙂

  6. Fleur Allen says:

Reka times certainly have changed dramatically in the past 10 or so years in terms of web design and web creation. Agreed, WordPress has made it oh so simple to get started. I would have dreamt of all the free access we now have to get up and running when I first started out in business back in 2007. My first business website back then cost me thousands of dollars and even then I didn’t have full access to be update and edit the content. My how things have changed and for the absolute better.

Of course, once you’re generating an income from your business you can take advantage of additional services of paid themes and upgraded servers and experts to manage the up keep and maintenance of your website. But it is also very cool to be able to get started on a shoe string budget and just go for it.

As you have highlighted although free services are now available it is also essential to get the right education and step by step guidance to get your website up and running and structured well. As you say, Wealthy Affiliate absolutely provides.

  7. Jurgen says:

Hmm, it seems Wealthy Affiliate is the better option out of the two. As I’m not sure how performant the hosting is directly from WordPress.

Positive thing is that if you’re a bit experienced the yearly prices for Personal & Premium are a great deal. Question, do you get one free .com domain with your subscription at WordPress?

    1. admin says:

I would say that Wealthy Affiliate is definitely the better option especially if you need additional features such as stock photos, or a keyword research and analyzer. Unfortunately, you do not get free .com domain with your WordPress sign up either. It would end with .wordpress.com.

  8. Jamie says:

Great and useful article – thanks for sharing!

I think for blogging, WordPress is definitely the way to go! There are so many options with this CMS system which can be bespoke to the website your wanting to build around your niche/topic.

Wealthy Affiliate package is also something I use too and would highly recommend to anyone looking to build up content to sign up to the programme. You get training, key word research tool and brilliant community that are always there to answer questions.

    Thanks for posting!

    1. admin says:

Thanks Jamie for your reply. I wouldn’t use anything else than WordPress for my sites either especially through Wealthy Affiliate – with having access to so many additional features.
